New analysts learning triage: Follow every thread you can. If your note says “suspect that this could be XYZ” go find out how to find that in the logs. Otherwise you leave analysis on the table.

Talking to prospective customer recently and said “some might call [our thing] AI but it’s just a more complex statistical algorithm” and I was THANKED. Just because it’s a buzzword doesn’t mean it will resonate with everyone.

I remember how excited I was as a SOC analyst and to start learning about CTI and see the opportunities. Now I get to watch some of my early career folks get that same spark in their eyes and get to have those conversations to curate their learning. They’re gonna be badass. 🥹

Anyone have a detection engineering certification they recommend? Or specific training? Training query language is one thing, but how to think like a detection engineer seems a bit more ephemeral. Or am I overcomplicating it?
