Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

Add in the boost for Scottish independence, and you have a government calling for ECHR withdrawal facing crisis from its neighbours, component parts, main trading partners, businesses, and security guarantor. And we know this because it mostly happened before. The UK backed down

So, let's say the right wins next time in the UK, leaving the ECHR will then lead to rerunning Brexit chaos potentially even amplified several times over. First with regard to Northern Ireland and Scotland, second with the EU potentially suspending tariff free trade. 1/n

The same people who lied about Brexit are now promising that leaving the ECHR would solve all our ills. In fact, it would be another blow to our diminished international reputation. The only state ever to have withdrawn is Greece under military rule. Don’t fall for it again.
