It was an honor to write this, but also great fun. A chance to look back at the classics, and think about the path forward. #Physics is a beautiful human endeavor.

I'm prototyping a little tool for interactively visualizing the near-nearest neighbor network in single-cell RNA-seq. Clicking a cell triggers a wave, revealing its nearest neighbors, then their neighbors, and so forth.

In biology classes, students often have different ideas about how things work. Our animated lessons clearly bring these systems and processes to life, exactly the way they happen, helping everyone understand the same concepts. Learn more at smart-biology.com. #3D#biology
When Ca2+ oscillates, [Ca2+] is the variable. Is [Ca2+] also the control parameter that defines the system's stability?

A molecular systems perspective on calcium oscillations beyond ion fluxes

What do action potential, hearing, calcium oscillations have in common? A periodic, synchronous opening of ion channels that we do understand. Our latest work proposes an alternative perspective for these conceptual problems beyond an ion flux-centric view. Feedbacks welcome!

" Liberals moving away from X are giving up on the 20th-century ideal of a public sphere, best described by Hannah Arendt as a place that “gathers us together and yet prevents our falling over each other.” "

The control experiment will be in fields where funding rate is high whether people are more likely to stay in academia. The bigger problem is perhaps academia is losing its value system to industry values.

How do organelles fit together inside a crowded cell? Answering this question requires a way to image many organelles in a whole cell at high resolution with high throughput. Our new preprint shows how to do this in yeast using soft x-ray tomography
