La portada de Time habla por si sola sobre el futuro de Biden.
Donde está presente la inflación americana?
El tamaño actual del balance de la FED es de $7,26 Trillones. Se ha reducido en Mayo en $107 billones y en $1,72 Trillones desde sus máximos. A partir del mes de Junio el ritmo de reducción será menor.
Para ponerlo en perspectiva el S&P 500 acumula una subida en el año de un 11%. Si descontamos las 5 megacaps tecnológicas (Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet y Nvidia) el S&P 495 sube sólo un 6%.
El consumo americano se sustenta con más deuda. A continuación un gráfico con la evolución del ahorro en comparación con la deuda de tarjetas de crédito.
Las pérdidas latentes que ostentan en sus balances los bancos americanos durante el primer trimestre del 2024 como consecuencia de la subida de los tipos de interés experimentada desde Marzo 2022 ascienden a $517 billones.
Tras la noticia de la posible aprobación del ETF de Ethereum, el mercado Crypto ha aumentado su capitalización en $500 billones durante el mes de Mayo. Bitcoin y Ethereum han subido respectivamente un 22% y un 30% en el mes, y un 8% y un 22% sólo en la jornada de ayer.
Donde está el liberalismo económico en los EEUU? Es bueno el proteccionismo para la economía? No crees que no es más que retrasar un problema ante una falta de competitividad?
Excelente gráfico que muestro el tipo marginal máximo a pagar en el Income Tax en cada unos de los países europeos. En EEUU el tipo federal máximo es del 37%, a lo que hay que añadir el tipo estatal en aquellos estados que lo tienen.
El nivel de ahorros de las familias americanas se ha situado por debajo de su nivel pre-pandémico. Hemos pasado de unos ahorros de $2,1 Trillones en Agosto 2021 a un déficit de $72 billones en Marzo 2024.

El pasado lunes el Banco Central de Japón intervino los mercados para dar apoyo a la cotización del Yen. Tras alcanzar los 160 Yenes/USD (niveles no vistos desde 1990) el BoJ vendió USD y compró Yenes relajando algo el par hasta los de 156 Yenes/USD:
“España no crece, se endeuda”. La deuda pública española es actualmente de 1,6 Trillones de euros. Ha crecido en 400,000 millones de euros desde que llegó Pedro Sánchez al Gobierno (Junio 2018).
En el gráfico adjunto puede verse el comportamiento similar que tuvieron los índices bursátiles S&P 500 y Euro Stoxx 50 en el periodo 1989-2009. A raíz de la crisis financiera del 2008 todo cambió y Europa quedó rezagada. Lo mismo ocurre en términos de crecimiento económico.
Discover Financial, sexto mayor emisor de tarjetas de crédito en EEUU, ha publicado los datos de impagos alcanzados en el primer trimestre del 2024. Los impagos se encuentran a su nivel más alto (5,7%) desde la crisis financiera del 2008.
El gráfico adjunto habla por si sólo acerca del coste de la deuda americana. A finales de 2024 se espera que los intereses asciendan a $1,6 Trillones.
A raíz del COVID y por primera vez, la riqueza en manos del 1% de la población más rica de EEUU supera a la de la clase media.
Históricamente el comportamiento del oro era inversamente proporcional a los tipos de interés reales. A mayor tipo real peor comportamiento del oro y a la inversa. Sin embargo esta relación se ha roto. A que obedece?
El mercado ha pasado de descontar hasta siete bajadas hace cuatro meses a descontar sólo una tras el dato de inflación de hoy.
Se verá obligada a bajar la FED los tipos de interés aunque a la economía con el problema de la inflación no le convenga? De no bajar los tipos de interés la carga financiera para el Tesoro será de $1,6 Trillones a finales de 2024. Asumible?
